Running to preserve the future
Tusk’s people-centered approach to protecting Africa’s wildlife and natural habitats helps ensure a future for iconic species like the giraffe, elephant, cheetah and rhino.
My story
I am taking part in the Lewa Safari Half Marathon on June 29, 2024 to help raise vital funds for Tusk to support a wide range of conservation projects across Kenya. This is the 25th anniversary year so participating is extra special. I have chosen to support Tusk because:
- Over 40 endangered species benefit from Tusk's projects
- Tusk has secured over 50 million hectares of landscape for wildlife
- 79 projects are currently supported with Tusk generated funds
- Tusk has invested over £11.1 million in direct conservation activity
- And more than 10 million people benefit from Tusk's work
On a personal note, this will be the last leg of my goal to run a half marathon on each of the seven continents. What better way to end it than running to support my favorite animal, the giraffe? It is estimated that there are fewer than 117,000 giraffes in their habitat. Of the eight subspecies, two are endangered and two are critically endangered. Every dollar in your contribution will go to this great cause. THANK YOU!
